«CLAT 5 – the 5th Latin Conference about Harm Reduction is an event which results from the networking among several countries such as Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Switzerland and others countries of Latin America. This 5th edition will take place in Oporto (Portugal) from the 1st to the 4th of July 2009 and will be organized by APDES and GRUP IGIA.

Our aims for this event are to rethink - in a transnational way - the future of harm reduction and to question the actual consensus about its policies and practices of intervention. For this we will stimulate a critical discussion based on the concepts and practices linked with harm reduction and also bring to the debate issues of human rights, South-North and East-West inequalities and social dialogue among key actors. The trans-territorial dimension of these issues calls for a global dialogue among nations. Therefore the official languages of this conference are will be five: Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian and English.
